At The Orchid Practice, we pride ourselves on being transparent with our clients about the way we work and provide our intervention. We provide holistic therapy, support, advice, and work with you and your child/young person/young adult and all those who are involved in their care. As part of our service, we want to ensure that you all get the most out of the therapy we provide. To do this, we are committed to keeping accurate clinical records, planning and preparing bespoke therapy materials and resources, liaising with other professionals and reading all relevant reports and research related to your child’s/the young person’s intervention.
Your initial assessment is the first stage of our process. We will offer your child/the young person/the young adult an assessment at home, in school/nursery as appropriate. As part of this process, you will be given a complete speech, language and communication assessment, a thorough written report (available within 4-6 weeks) including recommendations and advice.
Therapy sessions can take place at home, school or nursery, as appropriate and will last 30-45 minutes.
Therapy sessions can take place at home, school, nursery or in our consulting room, as appropriate and will last 30-45 minutes. Appropriate intervention will be offered based on the information gathered as part of the initial assessment process and in collaboration with parents, carers and education staff where appropriate.
In addition to face-to-face time with your child/the young person/the young adult, the therapist will plan and prepare for sessions, update targets, liaise with other professionals and keep in touch with families via e-mail, phone etc. as part of the therapy process. Our holistic service includes all admin related to the intervention such as record keeping, target updates, resource planning & provision and liaison. We also use MyTherapyTracker to make sure all parents/carers and education staff are kept updated with the therapy process which makes intervention efficient and effective.
We have developed our own cloud-based electronic patient record system specifically designed for therapists to keep clinical records efficiently and securely. We use this software with all our clients to ensure collaboration with parents/carers and education staff. We are working on some new developments for how our clients stay in touch with the therapy process. In order to do this we are making some important changes including removing login access via ClientView to MyTherapyTracker. We are working on a new client portal through The Orchid Practice website which we are busy developing in the background. We know that you value staying in touch with the therapy process. You will still receive summary notes as well as reports and targets sent directly to your inbox.
